The main god is Lord Shiva and is called by the name Vedapureeshwarar or Vazhaimadunathar (Vazhai \u2013 Banana. Lord appearing from plantain field).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gosthala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/thiruvedakudi.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1759 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/gosthala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/thiruvedakudi.jpg\" alt=\"thiruvedakudi\" width=\"551\" height=\"286\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gosthala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/thiruvedakudi.jpg 640w, https:\/\/gosthala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/thiruvedakudi-300x156.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 551px) 100vw, 551px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Sthala Purana says that an Asuran grabbed the <strong>Vedas<\/strong> from Lord Brahma and went deep into the sea. Then Lord Vishnu took an Avatar and got back the Vedas from the Asuran. Since all the Vedas were with an Asura, they all got the dosham.\u00a0 So all the Vedas performed Tapas towards Lord Shiva in this sthalam.\u00a0 Since all the Vedas performed tapas, this sthalam is called as &#8220;Tiru Vedhikkudi&#8221; and lord Shiva is called as &#8220;Vedhupureeswarar&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The Goddess her is <strong>Mangaiyarkarasi <\/strong>(Mangayar \u2013 Women, Arasi \u2013 Queen) meaning Queen of all Women. Women who seek good husband offer Sarees, Thali and do Sandana Kappu to the Goddess. People, whose marriage gets delayed because of <strong>Sevvai Dosham<\/strong>, visit the temple and do abishekam for Lord Subramanya. The temple is located in the place called Tiruthalur in <strong>Cuddalore<\/strong> district. The main deity is Lord Shiva in the form of Lingam and is known by the names Sishta <strong>Guru<\/strong> Natheshwarar \/ <strong>Thava Neri<\/strong> Aaludayar. The Goddess is Poongkodhai \/ Sivaloka Nayaki.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gosthala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/feature3-sishta.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1760 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/gosthala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/feature3-sishta.jpg\" alt=\"Thiru Thurayoor Temple\" width=\"550\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gosthala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/feature3-sishta.jpg 550w, https:\/\/gosthala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/feature3-sishta-300x153.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Sthala Purana says when Saint <strong>Sundarar<\/strong> was traveling towards this place (Tiruthalur) from Thiruvennainallur, <strong>Thenpennai<\/strong> river was flowing in between and so he could not reach this place.\u00a0 So he sang Thevara Padal about Lord Shiva from the other bank of the river. Being impressed by the hymns, the God and the Goddess came in the disguise of an elderly couple and helped Sundarar to cross the river in a small boat. Once he reached the other shore, the Lord Shiva hid Himself and Sundarar could not find Him. The old man came and told Sundarar that the person whom he is searching for is right above him. As he said, Sundarar had a darshan of Lord Shiva and Goddess Ambika on <strong>Rishaba Vahana<\/strong> on the Gopuram of the temple. Sundarar pleaded lord Shiva to teach him the lessons on Tapas (penance). So Lord Shiva imparted his teachings at this sthala and so the Lord is known as Sishta Guru Nathar \/ <strong>Thava Neri Aaludayar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Another Sthala Purana says that, when the <strong>wedding<\/strong> of Lord Shiva happened with Goddess Parvathi in Mt. Kailash, Lord Shiva ordered the Sage <strong>Agasthiyar<\/strong> to travel to the South direction in order to balance the level of the earth (Since everybody has moved to North to witness the Grand wedding !!). During this travel, the sage Agasthiyar installed Shiva lingam and Goddess Ambikai at various places throughout his route. In this sthala too, he installed Shiva Lingam facing the West direction and the <strong>Ambikai facing the North<\/strong> direction (Since the wedding is taking place in the North). This form of North facing Goddess is a very rare one.<\/p>\n<p>This place is also a <strong>Guru sthalam<\/strong> and special poojas are performed for Lord Shiva and Guru Dakshina Murthy to get rid of Marriage Doshams. People who seek the\u00a0blessing for their marriage, light the <strong>Ghee Deepams<\/strong> and do <strong>Vilva Archanai<\/strong> for 7 weeks. It is strongly believed that by doing so, all the doshas of marriage will get cleared and the marriage will be fixed soon.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Sri Kalyanasundareshwarar Temple &#8211; Thirumanancheri<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Another important temple for removing the obstacles of marriage is the <strong>Shri Kokilambika Sametha Sri Kalyanasundareshwarar<\/strong> temple located at the place called Thirumananchery in\u00a0 <strong>Nagapattinam<\/strong> District.\u00a0 Thirumancheri \u2013 \u2018Thirumana\u2019 means Marriage, \u2018Cheri\u2019 means Village.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gosthala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/feature-4-thiru.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1761 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/gosthala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/feature-4-thiru.jpg\" alt=\"feature 4 thiru\" width=\"550\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gosthala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/feature-4-thiru.jpg 550w, https:\/\/gosthala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/feature-4-thiru-300x164.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a>As the name suggests, it\u2019s the place where Lord Shiva married Parvathi. The Sthala Purana says that Goddess Parvathi was once cursed and so took the form of a normal person on Earth. She lived in the ashram of the <strong>sage Bharata Muni<\/strong> as his daughter. Later Bharata Muni approached Lord Shiva to marry his daughter and his wish was fulfilled in this sthala.<\/p>\n<p>Another Sthala Purana says, once Lord took the form of <strong>Dakshina Murthy<\/strong> (i.e) in the form of deep meditation. That time, <strong>Manmadan,<\/strong> the Lord of Love shot an arrow of garland on Lord Shiva. Shiva got angry, opened his 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Eye and made Manmadan to ashes. Later <strong>Rathi Devi<\/strong>, wife of Manmadan prayed to Lord to get back his husband and she got him back in this sthala.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gosthala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/tirumananchery-perumal.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1762 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/gosthala.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/tirumananchery-perumal.jpg\" alt=\"tirumananchery-perumal\" width=\"177\" height=\"253\" \/><\/a>The special <strong>attraction<\/strong> of this temple is that the Lord showers his blessings by standing in a beautiful <strong>marriage pose<\/strong> along with Parvathi (Hand in Hand!!). Lord Kalyanasundarar stands as the bridegroom and the Goddess is seen standing next to him looking at his feet (Bowing her head in shyness !!). This is the <strong>only temple<\/strong> where you can witness such a <strong>glorious sight<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>People who seek the blessings for their marriage can visit this place and offer special pooja for the God and the Goddess. For performing pooja, we need to get 2 garlands, 2 coconuts, turmeric, kumkum, banana, lemon, Camphor, ghee, Betel leaf and Betel nuts. On entering the temple we need to light <strong>5 ghee deepam<\/strong> in the Deepa mandapam while the priest will perform the special pooja for Shri Kokilambika sametha Kalyanasundareshwarar. At the end of pooja, prasadam will be given. It includes the lemon and the garland. Lemon should be made as juice and it should be consumed without adding sugar or salt. The garland should be kept safely in the pooja room. Once the marriage is fixed, the couple should <strong>visit the temple again<\/strong> and offer that garland in the temple tank.<\/p>\n<p>Marriage is one of the special occasions that need to happen on time in the life of every Bride and Bridegroom.
