Uppiliappan Temple, Thirunageswaram, Kumbakonam
Uppiliappan Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, located near Thirunageswaram near Kumbakonam in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. This temple is glorified in the tamil canonical work by saint Azhwars and hence considered as one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Vishnu. The presiding deity is worshiped as Uppiliappan and his consort Lakshmi as Bhumi Devi.
As per legend, Lord Vishnu appeared in front of Sage Markandeya on a Tiruvonam star day seeking his daughter’s hand in marriage. The wedding took place on Aipasi Tiruvonam Star day. To celebrate this event, on, special poojas are performed on Tiruvonam Star day of every month with Aganda Deepam and Vaal deepam. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi graces devotees from these lamps. Devotees throng the temple at this time considering the darshan auspicious.

Pooja/Parihara details:
To get relieved from sins:
- Rendering chandhan, Kumkum and flowers to the Lord.
- Devoting Dhoopakal, Deepakal, vessels needed for pooja and Thirumanjanam (Bathing of the Lord), brass bell and silk clothing.
- Chanting “Thulasivanam”.
- In the tamil month of Panguni, on the day of Sravanam, performing the parihara as mentioned below would remove all the evil sins like murder, robery etc.
- Early in the morning taking bath in the temple pushkarani. Give alms (dhanam) to needy people. Choose any 5 Brahmins and treat them as the 5 forms of Oppiliappan (ie) as Ponnappan, Maniappan, Muthappan, Ennappan, Vinnagarappan. Then give them Sweet kheer(Payasam) and finally worship Oppiliappan in his Sannathi.
For Child boon:
Performing utsavam to Lord Oppiliappan is strongly believed to bless the couples yearning for child boon.

By Rail:
