Morning
Vaidheeswaran Temple
  • Shiva is worshipped as Vaitheeswaran or the "God of healing" and it is believed that prayers to Vaitheeswaran can cure diseases.
  • It is one of the nine Navagraha (nine planets) temples associated with the planet Mars (Angaraka).
  • The village is also known for palm leaf astrology called Naadi astrology in Tamil.
  • The holy waters of the Siddhamirtham tank within the temple complex contains nectar, and a holy dip is believed to cure all diseases.
  • It is one of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalam.
  • During the Ramayana period, Rama, Lakshmana and Saptarishi have worshipped the deity in this place.There is a pond at this temple called Jatayu kundam (pot of Jatayu having holy ash or Vibhuti). One of the nine planets, Angaraka (Mars), suffered from leprosy and was cured by Vaidhyanathaswamy and from then on it is treated as one of the Navagraha Temples for planet Angaraka.
  • It is also a local belief that dissolving jaggery (Tamil:vellam) in the waters cures skin diseases.
  • Tonsure ceremony of getting children shaved for the first time to promote proper growth is a very common practise.

Sivalokanathar Temple
  • The shiva linga and nandhi are suvayambhu(self manifested).
  • The temple is associated with the legend of the Saivite saint Nandanar who was one of the 63 Nayanmars.
  • While being a Dalit, Nandanar was not allowed inside the temple.
  • The idol of Nandi within the temple precincts moved a few inches at the command of Shiva so as not to obstruct Nandanar's view from the gate of the shrine.
  • Devotees offering their prayer to kulam vettiya vinayakar have all their wishes fulfilled.

Thillai Nataraja Temple
  • Chidambaram(Thillai Natarajah Temple) is the birthplace of the sculpture and bronze image representation of Lord Shiva as the cosmic dancer.
  • Lord Shiva is captured in pose as Nataraja performing the Ananda Tandava ("Dance of Delight") in the golden hall of the shrine Pon Ambalam.
  • Chidambaram is one of the five Pancha Bootha Sthalams, (aakash).
  • It is the primary shrine of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams - Shiva Sthalams.
  • The shrine is where some devotees believe they will attain liberation, or chitaakasam - "wisdom/consciousness of the sky".

Brahmapureeswarar Temple
  • This is a vast temple complex with 3 different Shiva Shrines.
  • Special worship services to Bhairavar (Sattanathar) are carried out on Friday nights.
  • Lord Shiva at the first level is in the form of a Lingam and is called Brahmapureeswarar.
  • Lord Shiva at the second level is in human form and is really huge. He gives darshan with goddess Parvati and is called Thoni appar wherein Thoni is boat in Tamil.
  • The Lord in the final and third level is called Sattanathar.
  • The place is popular for Goddess Parvati having fed the milk of wisdom to Gnana sambandar when he was a child.
  • There is a seperate sannadhi for the saint in the temple.
  • There is a big tank inside the temple complex and is known as Brahma Theertham.

Buthan Temple
  • Swetharanyeswarar Temple or budhan temple located in the town of Thiruvenkadu.
  • There is a separate Sannidhi for Budha (mercury).
  • This temple is especially known for its unique incarnate of Lord Shiva called "Agora Murthi". He is one of the main god who is being prayed in this village.
  • Thiruvengadu village is also famous for its unique structure of pools in temples. This temple has 3 pools, 3 Gods.
  • It is a belief that who takes bath in all these pools, the one will be free from their problems like diseases, delay in marriages.
  • Worshipping budha bhagvan here on wednesdays results in get rid of budhan doshams.
  • Offering Green clothes and full Moong dal here is very special.
  • “Pillai Idukki Amman” is the mother who bestows the progeny for the childless.

Pallavaneswarar Temple
  • Pallavaneswarar Temple is a Hindu temple located in the town of Kaveripoompattinam or Poompuhar.
  • It is situated on the birthplace of Saivite saint Pattinathar and the presiding deity is Shiva.
  • It is one of the shrines of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams.
  • Lord Shiva is a swayambumurthy in the temple.
  • The Shiva Linga in the sanctum sanctorum is big in size. Sage Kalava Maharshi had worshipped here.
  • People pray to Lord Pallavanathar for wise children and cultivating the trait of renunciation.

Amritaghateswarar Abirami Temple
  • Amritaghateswarar Abhirami Temple is particularly associated with Shiva saving his devotee Markendeya from death and the tale of saint Abirami Pattar, a devotee of the presiding goddess.
  • It is one of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams.
  • It is also believed that Abhirami incarnated here by the power of Vishnu.
  • Based on the legend of Markandeya, it is believed that worshipping at this temple will give longevity to couples who have reached age sixty or eighty-one.
  • The Shankha-abhisheka, a festival of the Divine Mother celebrated in the month of Kartikai (November–December).

Mahalingam Temple
  • Thiruvidaimaruthur Mahalingam Temple is 1000-2000 years old.The Lord of this holy place graces us as ‘swayambu moorthi’.
  • The Nandhi in the Temple is one of the largest in the district.
  • The Thiruvitaimaruthur Mookambigai of this place is as famous and great like the Karnataka Kollur Mookambigai.
  • Devotees in large numbers come and worship the Mookambigai shrine, since it is considered to be powerful.
  • The married couples worship intensely that they should conceive without any problems and beget babies. Likewise, women pray for safe delivery. This kind of worship significantly prevails in this shrine.
  • Two temple festivals are being celebrated for 10 days - "Thai Poosam" In January- February and another one, Thirukkalyana Uthsavam (Vasantha utsavam) in Vaigasi (May).
  • 63 Nayanmar Ula and Aruthra Darshan are the other two important temple festivals.

Swamimalai Temple
  • Swamimalai Swaminathaswamy Temple is one of the six holy shrines of Murugan called Arupadaiveedu.
  • The shrine of the presiding deity, Swaminathaswamy is located atop a 60 ft (18 m) hillock and the shrine of his mother Meenakshi (Parvathi) and father Shiva (Sundareswarar) is located downhill.
  • The temple is believed to be in existence from the Sangam period from 2nd century BC.
  • The annual Vaikasi Visagam festival is attended by thousands of devotees from far and near.
  • As per Hindu legend, Muruga, the son of Shiva, extolled the meaning of the Pranava Mantra (Hindi: ॐ AUM) to his father at this place and hence attained the name Swaminathaswamy.

Sri Thenupureeswarar Temple
  • The temple of Patteeswarar presents a magnificent sight with five gopurams and three prakarams.
  • Pattisvara, the presiding form of Shiva manifests himself in the form of Linga, in the central mandapa of the first prakaram.
  • Kamadhenu’s daughter Patti worshipped Lord Shiva here by doing abhishekam with milk and hence the name Pateeswaram.
  • The worship of Goddess Durga removes the effect of all types of black magic, unfavourable effect of negative planets, bad luck, health problem, problems due to enemies.
  • A sculpture of Parvati doing penance is also found inside the temple.
  • All the Navagrahas here face the Sun-god Surya and are positioned as per the Agama tradition.

Saneeswaran Temple
  • Ramanathaswami Temple also known as Mangala Saneeswarar Temple.
  • The presiding deity in the main temple is Ramanathaswami, facing east, and it is considered to be as holy as the one in Rameswaram. Many devotees who are unable to visit Rameswaram, make their offerings to the Lord here.
  • Saniswaran living with two wife and two child. The only place availalable saniswaran with family in the Universal. He also called as mangala saniswaran.
  • Legend,Once the Sage Vahistar asked the king Dhasaratha to save the world from Saturn (Sani). Because, Sani moving from Rohini star to Karthigai star. If it has happen, the whole world will destroy. Therefore, the King Dhasaratha takes his all-divine weapons and reaches Rohini. On seeing Sani, he requested to separate the world for 12 years, Sani had attracted by Dhasaratha. Sani guided him to go thirunaraiyur and take dip on the temple pond. Dhasaratha obey and have a dip, at that time, the Sani appeared before him. There is a separate shrine for Navagrahas with the Sun at the centre with his two Consorts, Ushadevi and Prathyushadevi, which is said to be a rarity. The other eight grahas are found around Sun.

Naganatha Swami Temple
  • Naganatha Swami(Thirunageswaram) is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
  • An important feature of Naganatha Swami temple is that of Rahu bhagawan (one of the nine celestial bodies) sannathi.
  • Here milk abhishekam is performed daily during Rahukaalam. At this time, the milk that is poured on the statue turns blue when it passes over the body and once again to white after it reaches the floor. This wonder is watched by many daily during the Raahu Kaalam.
  • This is also the only place wherein one can view Rahu bhagawan with his consorts.
