Lord Saneeswarar Temple in Thirunallar
In this temple, the presiding deity is Dharbaranyeswarar and is believed to have been made of Dharba(Grass). However, the worship is centered around the Lord Saneeswarar(Planet Saturn) and hence it is one of the Navagraha temples in Tamilnadu. The tradition is to worship Lord Saniswarar before entering the inner sanctum of Lord Siva.

- One of the Devara Padal Petra Sthalams.
- This temple is dedicated to Lord Shani (Saneeswarar, in Tamil). Whenever (planet) Saturn transits from one zodiac sign to another (an occurrence roughly every 2.5 years), millions throng this shrine for worship.
- The legendary King Nala is said to have been relieved of his afflictions caused by the malefic influence of Saturn, after worship in this temple. Of the numerous theertams (sacred bathing places), the Nala theertam is the most important one. It is believed that by bathing here, one washes off all kinds of misfortunes and afflictions caused by one's past of karmas.
- “PACHAI PADHIGAM” sung by the great saint Thirugnanasambhandar in this temple is very famous one.

- Lord Saneeswaran is attired in black colour and the grain associated with him is sesame seeds , the flower - vanni and blue kuvalai ; fabric - black cloth; gem - neelam (blue sapphire); food - rice mixed with sesame powder are offered during pooja.
- Devotees offer an iron Pan ('bandly') filled with gingely oil to a Brahmin inside the temple premises as Shani pariharam.
- Archana and lighting gingelly oil Dheepam and chanting Sani Moola Manthrams are also considered very effective pariharams during the period of Shani Dhosha.
- Pilgrims also perform Navagraha Shanti Homas (a Pooja to satisfy and calm down the anger of the planets).
