- Tiri means ‘wick’ and ‘nindravur’ means where it was put off. A chola King used to pass through Tirunindravur every night. While going through the village, the lamps carried by his entourage used to go off. He wanted to check out the reason and went to the same place in the morning. His sword hit something in the ground and found blood was oozing. He found Shiva Linga and built this temple at that spot.
- The temple is one amongst the temples that is dedicated for each of the 27 Birth stars. The temple is dedicated to Anusham. People born under this start get great benefits if they worship here atleast once in a year.
