Morning
Ekambareshwarar Temple
  • Ekambareswarar Temple is the largest temple in the town of Kanchipuram.The temple gopuram (gateway tower) is 59m tall, which is one of the tallest gopurams in India.
  • It is one of the Pancha Bootha Sthalams representing earth.
  • It is one of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams.
  • Legend once Parvati, was doing penance under the temple's ancient Mango tree near Vegavathi river. In order to test her devotion Shiva sent fire on her. Goddess Parvati prayed Vishnu, for help. In order to save her, he took the Moon from Shiva's head and showed the rays which then cooled down the tree as well as Parvati. Parvati made a Shiva Linga out of sand to get united with Shiva. The God here came to be known as Ekambareswarar or "Lord of Mango Tree".

Kailasanathar Temple
  • The kanchi Kailasanathar temple is the oldest structure in Kanchipuram.
  • The structure contains 58 small shrines, dedicated to various forms of Shiva.
  • Small shrine-like cells have been constructed along the entire length of both sides and filled with the various exploits of Lord Shiva not found anywhere else.
  • The temple is one of the most prominent tourist attractions of the city.
  • There is a strange custom of women facing marriage problems tie the wedding knot to Mother directly themselves in the shrine. Men tie the knot to Nandhi before Lord Shiva shrine.
  • Maha Shivaratri is the biggest festival held in the temple.

Sri Lakshmi Narayani Golden Temple
  • The golden temple of Sripuram is located 8km south of the city of Vellore at Thirumalaikodi.
  • The Lakshmi Narayani temple whose 'Vimanam’ and ‘Ardha Mandapam’ is covered with pure gold.
  • The temple is located on 100 acres of land and has been constructed by the Vellore-based 'Sri Narayani Peedam'.
  • There are 18 entrances behind the mandap representing the 18 characters of the human mind. The temple is designed according to Sri Chakra star lines. The temple is in round shape. There are more than 3,000 trees around.
  • She graces the devotees dressed with precious jewels and a crown of diamond, pearls and other precious gems. She pours boons of 16 kinds of prosperity.
  • The Sripuram Lakshmi Narayani temple covering 5000 square feet is full of gold everywhere, all weighing 1500 kilograms at a cost of Rs. 350 crore.
  • Standing in the Mahamandap and worshipping Mother would bring the devotee all the prosperities, is the faith of the people. Life would ever be happier.

Jalakandeeswarar Temple
  • Jalakandeswarar Temple is located in the Vellore Fort.
  • All the three Lords with their consorts – Lord Vishnu with Mother Mahalakshmi, Lord Brahmma with Mother Saraswathi and Lord Shiva with Mother Parvathi grace the devotees in the temple.
  • There is an earthern lamp on the Balipeeta behind the Adhikara Nandhi (the bull vehicle of Lord Shiva) which would revolve if some people place their hands on it as they wish it.
  • Water for the abishek of the Lord is drawn from well which is very old. This is the Ganga Gouri holy theertham.
  • According to legend, there used to a giant ant-hill surrounded by stagnant water at the location where the sanctum sanctorum of temple now stands. Chinna Bommi Nayaka,who was controlling the fort had a dream where the Lord Shiva asked him to build a temple at that location. He demolished the anthill and build the temple and since the Lingam was surrounded by water (called Jalam in Tamil) the deity was called as Jalakandeswarar (translated as "Lord Shiva residing in the water").

  • Ratnagiri Balamurugan temple is an ancient Murugan temple situated in Vellore. It is situated on top of a hill.
  • The Lord is a Bala – child, Surasamharam does not take place during the Skanda Sashti festival.
  • It is believed that the divine power in the temple manifests its blessings in three forms , in the form of the Lord Murugan idol in the shrine, guru Swami Balamurugan Adimai and in the form of the devotee.

  • The Thiru Uraga Perumal Temple is located in Kundrathur, Chennai suburb. The temple is near the Kundrathur Murugan Temple.
  • This temple is dedicated to Sri Vishnu as Thiru Uraga Perumal and Divine Mother Shakti as Thiruvirundavalli Thayar.
  • Lord Kalyanaramar with His consort Mother Sita and Sri Anjaneya in worshipping form are in their shrines in the prakara.
