Morning
Prathyangira Devi Temple,Ayyavadi
  • This is one of the Shiva temples praised in Thevaram hymns. Saint Gnana Sambandar had praised Lord of this temple in his hymns.
  • According to legends, the 5 Pandavas visited this place, kept their weapons under a tree, worshipped Sri Maha Prathyangira Devi and went around in the forests. As the five Pandavas worshipped here, it is beleived that the place was called as Aivar Padi which later changed as Ayyavadi.
  • Prathyankira and her moola manthram was discovered by 2 rishis in ancient times – they were Angiras and Prathyankiras, in whose honour the Goddess assumed the name of Prathyankira. She is also known as Aparajitha.

Thenupureeswarar Temple, Pateeswaram
  • The temple of Patteeswarar presents a magnificent sight with five gopurams and three prakarams.
  • Pattisvara, the presiding form of Shiva manifests himself in the form of Linga and another presiding deity is Goddess Durga.
  • Kamadhenu’s daughter Patti worshipped Lord Shiva here by doing abhishekam with milk and hence the name Pateeswaram.

  • The temple conducts Nikumbala Yajna on all new moon days from 8.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. Though bags of chillies are used in the yagna, the spicy smoke emanating from the Yajna fire does not create any inconvenience as coughing etc. to the attendees. This is indeed a wonder. 108 varieties of ingredients are used in the yajna as fruits, silk saris etc. At the end of the yajna, abishek is performed to Mother Pratyangaradevi and Lord Sarabeswarar with holy Kalasa (pots) water. The devotee crowd on the yajna day is estimated to be around 40,000.
  • The Yaga Gunda (a form specially arranged for the purpose) will have Vinayaka, Muruga, Sastha, Bhairava, Saraba, Soolini, Vaarahi, Sudharsanam the discus of Lord Vishnu and Mahalakshmi are installed around the Yaga platform in such places meant for them according to the Vedic rules. Centrally, Pradhyangara Devi is installed. The puja is performed on the flames of fire called Homa and Nivedhana (offering) is offered. 96 varieties of things, fruits, nine varieties of cereals, silk saree, ghee are offered in the flames. Finally, a large quantity of red chillies are poured on the flames. This is a very powerful puja-prayer.

  • The worship of Goddess Durga removes the effect of all types of black magic, unfavourable effect of negative planets, bad luck, health problem, problems due to enemies.
  • Offering of sarees and garland made of lemons are made to the Goddess.
  • Offering red floral garland alleviates Chevvai dosham (Adverse effect of Mars).
  • People afflicted with Raghu and Kethu dosha worship the Goddess during Raghu Kalam.
  • Worshipping her on sundays, tuesdays, fridays and on Full moon and New moon days,Ashtami and Navami is considered special.

  • 50% of package cost will be charged as penalty on cancellation between 15 to 21 days before departure.
