Thirunageswaram Naganathar Temple
Thirunageswaram Naganathar Temple is a hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located at Tirunageswaram near Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu. It is one of the Navagraha Sthalas, specifically for Rahu and hence known as Rahu Sthalam. The presiding deity is Naganathar represented by lingam and his consort is Piraisoodi Amman. The deity of Rahu can be seen with his consorts Nagavalli and Nagakanni. This temple is classified as one of the Paadal Petra Sthalams since it has been glorified in the ancient tamil canonical work Thevaram by Nayanars.
The unfavourable position of Rahu as per one’s birth star causes Rahu dosha. It brings a lot of negative effects in one’s life including hindrance in marriage, child birth, job, business, etc. It is important to perform parihara to alleviate the dosha and its effects.
Performing milk abhishekam for Rahu during Rahu Kaalam at Tirunageswaram temple wards off Sarpa dosha, Kaalasarpa dosha and Kalasthra dosha and bestows devotees with child boon, marriage boon, relief from marital problems, a surge in jobs and businesses. To one’s surprise, the milk poured on the idol during abhishekam turns blue which is apparently visible with naked eyes.

By Air:
The nearest airport to Thirunageswaram temple is Trichy airport at a distance of about 100 km.
By Rail:
Thirunageswaram has its own railway station connected by passenger trains with Kumbakonam, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur and Trichy stations.
By Road:
The Temple is on the Kumbakonam – Karaikal bus route at a distance of 6 km from Kumbakonam. Adequate bus facilities are available from Kumbakonam to reach the temple in 30 minutes.
