Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple – Timings, Poojas, Contact Details
Ramanathaswamy Temple is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and located in Rameswaram of Pamban island. It is the southermost Jyothirlinga temple and one of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams. This temple is believed to have been established and worshiped by Rama, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, to absolve the sins created during the Ramayana war at Sri Lanka. The temple has the longest corridor among all Hindu temples in India. There are two lingams inside the sanctum – The one that Goddess Sita built with sand called ‘Ramalingam’ and the one brought by Lord Hanuman from Kailash called ‘Vishwalingam’. This temple has the longest corridor among all the hindu temples in India.

By Air:
The nearest airport to the temple is that of Madurai which is 180 km from the temple. The fastest route from the airport to the temple is via NH87.
By Rail:
The nearest railway station to the temple is that of Rameswaram itself. It is connected to the major stations including Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Trichy, Tirupati, Hyderabad, Ajmer, Bhubaneswar, Varanasi, etc. The temple is 1.5 km From Rameswaram railway station.
By Road:
There are adequate bus services operating from various major cities like Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Bangalore,etc. to this temple town. Chennai is approximately 650 km away from the heart of Rameshwaram. Madurai (169km), Tiruchirappalli (271km) and Thanjavur (231 km) are easily accessible from Rameshwaram by road.
