Kukke Subramanya Temple – Timings, Poojas, Contact Details

Kukke Subramanya is a Hindu religious institution located in the village of Subramanya. The main deity is Lord Subramanya, the lord of all serpents. The temple serves as the abode of nagas. Here pooja is offered to lord Subramanya along with serpent king Vasuki. Devotees throng the temple to offer Sarpa Samskara, Nagaprathishta, Ashlesha Bali & other rituals to bring salvation from all kinds of Naga doshas. Pilgrims going to the temple have to cross the Kumaradhara River and take a holy dip in the river before entering the temple for their darshan.

Sarpa Dosha Parihara:

1. Sarpa Samskara along with Nagaprathishta :

This seva is carried out for relief from sarpahathya dosha.  For this seva, devotees can register their names through online booking or directly in the temple office by paying Rs.3200 in cash or through Bank D.D. in favor of Kukke Shree Subrahmanya Temple along with complete address and contact numbers. The registered devotees will be informed about their Seva dates. Such devotees may have stay here for two days. A room will be reserved for the Seva, the rent of which has to be paid separately. This Seva can be performed on all days except Dashami, Ekadashi, Gokulastami, Shivarathri, Grahana (Eclipse) and during the annual festival for 15 days. A cancellation fee of Rs.500 will be applicable, if a sarpasamskara seva booked through any means like online booking / dd / cash / money order is cancelled for any reason after the amount is credited to the temple account. The same will be deducted from the refund amount.

2. Nagaprathishta:

Seva fee Rs.400. The Seva is open on all days except Ekadashi and Fast days. Obtain receipt at the Seva Counter before 10:00 AM. report for Sankalpa by a Purohitha in the inner quadrangle of the temple. Undertake Pradakshina and witness Poornahuthi of NAGAPRATHISHTA HOMA around 10.30 a.m. Participate in the Nagaprathishta ceremony by the Archaka after MAHA POOJA around 12.00 p.m. at the Nagaprathistha Mantapa in the outer Quadrangle.

3. Ashlesha Bali:

This is a Kaalasarpa dosha ritual performed on Ashlesha Nakshatra in each month. This pooja benefits and paves way for marriage, child boon, employment, improvement of financial status, gives inner peace and cure for diseases. Seva fee Rs.400. The Seva is open on all days except Ekadashi and Fast days.    Performed in 3 Shifts (7:00 AM, 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM) before which the seva receipt has to be received.

4. Prarthana(Prayer):

·         The seva is undertaken for “ISHTARTHA SIDDYS” like Marriage, Santhana Prapthi, Employment, Promotion, Progress, Health, Assets like land, water and also for relief from Chronic Skin Diseases and various mundane problems. Seva fee Rs.100. Performed at SHRI SUBRAHMANYA SANNIDHI after Mahapooja at 12:00 PM and 7:30 PM respectively. Obtain the seva receipt and join the queue around Garbha gudi.

Do’s & Dont’s:

  • Devotees should not enter the temple without taking bath.
  • Remove shirt, coat, banian, cap and foot wear before entering the temple.
  • Umbrella, Sticks, Materials made of animal skin and mobile phones should not be brought inside the temple.
  • Chewing betal leaves, tobacco, Gutka is prohibited inside the temple.
  • Devotees should not enter the temple oiling their heads or body.
  • Devotees with uncomfortable injuries and those suffering from epilepsy or madness are not allowed inside the temple.
  • Female devotees in their first 5 days of menstruation period or those pregnant after sixth month or late should not enter the temple.
  • Devotees should maintain discipline and follow the rules of Vaidhika Dharma.
  • Cleanliness of the temple is be maintained.
  • Smoking and Spitting inside temple is strictly prohibited.

By Road:

Adequate number of KSRTC buses are available to the temple from Bangalore, Mysore and Mangalore.

By Train:

The nearest railway station is the Subrahmanya Road Railway station, about 10 km from Kukke Subramanya.

By Air:

The nearest airport to the temple is the Mangalore airport which is connected to the major cities of India. The temple is about 100 km from the airport which can be covered by hiring a taxi.
