Sri Kalyanasundareswarar Temple, Thirumanancheri

Sri Kalyanasundareswarar Temple, also known as Sri Udhvaganathar Temple, is an ancient hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located at Thirumanancheri, Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu. Being one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, this temple is where Lord Shiva married Parvathi. Hence the presiding deity Kalyanasundarar is seen in marriage pose with his consort Kokilambal. Visiting this temple and performing the parihara removes the obstacles of marriage and its delay.

Pooja items required for the Parihara:

Five Ghee Lamps, Turmeric, Kumkum, Betal leaves, Arecanut, Lemon, Banana, Sandal, two Garlands, two Coconuts.

Worshipping Procedure:

• Devotees who intend to perform the parihara for obstacles and delay in marriage, may purchase the pooja ticket and the pooja items inside the temple on their arrival.
• On entering the temple, devotees should first render their prayers to SelvaGanapathy.
• Secondly, lit the five ghee lamps on the lamp deck placed opposite to the SelvaGanapathy shrine.
• Then head over to the Marriage prayer hall (Thirumana Prarthanai Mandapam) to worship Kalyanasundarar and Kokilambal. This is where the pooja is done and a garland is returned to each of the devotees who come for parihara archana.
• This has to be followed by the darshan of Sri Mangala Raghu bagwan and Goddess Ambal.
• Finally circumambulate the temple once and render your prayers to Kodimara Vinayagar, making the darshan whole and complete.
• After heading home, the next morning, devotees should wake up by dawn and take a shower. Then prepare lemon juice by squeezing the lemon given at the temple and diluting it with water. Consume it without mixing sugar and salt.
• After intaking lemon juice, lit a lamp at the pooja room, wear the garland offered at the temple and render your prayers to the Lord.
After your prayers, place the garland safely in a yellow cloth bag.
• From the next day, devotees should adorn themselves daily with the holy ash (vibhudhi), turmeric and kumkum offered at the temple.
• On successful completion of their marriage, they should come back to the temple with their spouse and return the garland, thus expressing their gratitude and completing the prarthana.

By Air:

The nearest airport to the temple is that of Trichy which is at a distance of 117 km.

By Train:

The nearest railway station to the temple is Mayiladuthurai station which is about 13 km and can be covered in 20-25 min.
Also, Kumbakonam railway station is 29 km from the temple.

By Bus:

Frequent buses are available from Kuttalam and Mayiladuthurai. Also major cities of Tamil Nadu are connected to Mayiladuthurai and Kumbakonam from where the temple can be reached easily.
