Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple is an ancient hindu temple of Lord Guruvayurappan in Guruvayur, Kerala. The main deity of the temple is Lord Vishnu referred to as Guruvayurappan. He is in the majestic four armed form of Lord Krishna with his attributes, as seen by Krishna’s parents Vasudeva and Devaki in the prison before Krishna’s birth. Hence this temple is referred to as Dwaraka of the South. Being the abode of Vishnu, it is also considered as Bhuloka Vaikunta. Only Hindus are allowed to visit the temple.

Dress Code:
Guruvayur Temple has a strict dress code. Men are prohibited from wearing shirts. They are restricted to mundu (tied around the waist) with or without angavastram while Boys can wear shorts. Women can wear saree or salwar Kameez or skirts and tops for entering the temple.
How to reach
By Air:
The temple is about 80 km from Cochin international airport and around 90 km from Kozhikode international airport. Major international flight services are available to these airports.
By Rail:
Guruvayur has its own railway station which connects to the other cities in Kerala by the local trains running between them. The temple is 1 km from the station.
The nearest major railway station is that of Thrissur which is around 30 km from the temple.
By Road:
KSRTC buses and private buses are available from various towns and locations of Kerala. Inter-state bus services connect the major south Indian states to this temple town. The temple is less than 1 km from the bus stand.
