Ghati Subramanya Temple – Timings, Poojas, Contact Details
Ghati Subramanya Temple is a famous hindu pilgrimage centre located at Tubagere, Doddaballapura which is 60 km from Bangalore city. This temple is unique in that the main deity Lord Subramanya is found as a seven headed serpent together with Lord Narasimha in a single stone, back to back. For the worshippers to get a glimpse of both the deities, a mirror has been strategically placed at the rear side of the idol. Lord Subramanya faces east and is prominently visible, while Lord Narasimha faces west and is visible on the mirror behind.
Temple Poojas and their benefits:
Few of the major rituals performed at this temple include Kuja Dosha, Naga Pratistha, Sarpa Dosha Nivarana Homa. The Ghati Subramanya temple is a Sarpa Dosha Parihara Sthala and is known for Naga Kshetra. Devotees with Sarpa Dosha visit this temple and do Special Poojas, NagaPrathista (Installing the Idols of snake) and Sarpa Dosha Nivarana Homa. Childless couples may visit this temple and do NagaPrathista to get their wish fulfilled. Offering or Pouring of milk on the Naga Idols that are placed under the Banyan Trees is considered auspicious. Thousands of such planted idols are seen near the temple complex.
Poojas for Kuja Dosha can be performed to reduce or nullify the bad effects of the dosha.

How to reach Ghati Subramanya Temple:
By Air:
The nearest airport to the temple is the Bangalore Airport, which is around 45 kilometres away. The fastest route from the airport to the temple is via NH648 and the other via NH44.
By Rail:
The closest major railway station to the temple is Bangalore Cantonment Railway Station which is 56 km away. The fastest route from the station to the temple is via Doddaballapur Rd and Bellary Rd covering 56 km which approximately takes about 1 hr 30 min.
The nearest local railway station is Makalidurga in Kelaginajuganahalli which is about 4km away.
By Road:
The distance from Bangalore city to Doddaballapura covering 44km can be reached by KSRTC or BMTC’s. The 16km distance from Doddaballapura to Ghati Subramanya can be covered by KSRTC or private carriages.
Do’s and Dont’s while visiting the temple:
- Do not visit any Vishnu Temple immediately after performing Sarpa Dosha Parihara Pooja. It is recommended to take head bath before visiting any Vishnu Temple.
- Do not offer Sashtanga Namaskara in any Naga Devatha Temple.
- For ladies, Sarpa Dosha Nivarana Pooja should not be performed nearer to the Monthly period time. There should be at least 8 days gap to conduct the Pooja.
- Pregnant women are advised not to visit any Naga temple.
