Sri Angaala Parameswari Temple, Melmalaiyanur

Sri Angaala Parameswari Temple is a hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Angaalamman. The temple is located in Melmalaiyanur near Gingee in Villupuram district. Goddess Angaalamman is a form of Parvathi, the consort of Lord Shiva. This temple town is the place of rebirth of Parvathi as Angaalamman. The temple is small, yet powerful. Several devotees throng the temple on new moon day and full moon day. Festival days are usually over crowded at the temple with lakhs of devotees visiting to have darshan.

Devotees donate gold and silver offerings to the Goddess, for their wishes getting fulfilled. Those yearning for marriage boon and child boon tie Mangal Sutra and cradle respectively in the sacred tree at the temple. The rice placed in Goddess Annapurani’s lap is taken home and placed in the pooja room, to be bestowed upon with prosperity and to live a life without famine.
