Struggling with debts?? Here is the temple that will help you in overcoming your financial debts !!

Padikasu Nathar temple is one of the Parihara temples for overcoming your debt issues (Kadan Thollai) and to get financial prosperity in your life.

The Padikasu Nathar temple is located in a place called Alagaputhur in Thanjavur Dist., Tamilnadu. The main deity of this temple is Lord Shiva and He is known as Swarnapureeshwarar or Padikasu Alitha Nathar. The Goddess is known by the name Azhagammai or Azhagambikai.

As per Hindu Mythology, this temple is closely related to one of the Nayanmar named Pugazh Thunai Nayanar. Though he was very poor, he continued to do his daily pooja to Lord Shiva with utmost determination. Once a severe famine hit the place and it came under drought. But Pugazh Thunai Nayanar was not disheartened but continued to do his pooja. While carrying the water for abishekam,  due to starvation and age factor, he got fainted and dropped the Abishekam water on Lord Shiva. Nayanmar felt so bad and he decided to end his life for the sin. Lord Shiva appeared in his dream and asked what he wished. Nayanmar begged the Lord to help him to continue his pooja and also to protect the people from famine.

Lord then promised to give him one gold coin every day in order to continue his pooja and also to help his people. Pugazh Thunai Nayanmar then continued his divine service to god and also helped his people till the end of his life. It is also said that the descendants of this Nayanmar are still working as priests in this temple.

Even today, the priest of this temple will perform Padikasu Pooja in the temple. It is believed that this ritual would bring prosperity in their life. During this ritual, the devotees have to give even number of 10 rupee notes to the priest. The priest would perform special pooja and he will hand over half of it. Rest will be kept by the priest and it will be used for the temple maintenance. Then the priest would give instructions on how to preserve the rest of the currencies at home and to perform the pooja.

If they cannot afford to perform the ritual, they can just place 2 coins at the feet of Padikasu Nathar, pray for their prosperity and take one of the coins back to home with them. They are advised to preserve that coin at home and perform the pooja. It is strongly believed that by doing these rituals with strong belief and determination would bring financial prosperity in one’s life and help them on overcoming all debts.

Another unique feature of this temple is Lord Muruga. The Lord Muruga of this temple is seen with the Conch and Discus which are normally the associates of Lord Vishnu. It is said that the conch and the Discus are given by Lord Vishnu to Muruga when He set out to wage war against the demons. Moreover, He graces His devotees by sitting on the peacock along with His consorts Valli and Deivanai. Because of this, He is known as Kalyana Sundara Shanmuga Subramanyar.
