Sri Sishta Guru Natheshwarar Temple, Thiruthuraiyur
Sri Sishta Guru Natheshwarar Temple is a hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located at Thiruthuraiyur, also known as Thiruthalur, in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu. This temple is one of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams glorified by the Nayanars. The presiding deity, Lord Shiva, is known here as Sri Sishta Gurunatheswarar, Pasupatheeswarar and Thava Neri Aaludayar. The main Goddess is Shivaloka Nayagi also called as Sri Poongothai. The temple also houses the shrines of Dakshinamoorthy, Nardana Vinayaga, Bhairava, Surya Linga, Ramalinga, Bheema Linga, Sun God, Adikesava Bhakthavathsala, and Goddess Gajalakshmi. Special poojas are performed here to remove the hindrance and delay in marriage. Poojas on Thursdays are done to Lord Shiva and Dakshinamoorthy for educational excellence.

Pooja Details:
For devotees who yearn for marriage, Sahasranama archana is done at the temple in the morning around 9 AM. Hence they will have to be at the temple by 8 AM. Devotees are required to buy the following pooja items and offer to the priest: coconut, bananas, betal leaves, areca nut, untied arali flower (1 kg), jasmine flower, camphor. No garland is needed.
*The priest at the temple is to be contacted before visiting the temple since he needs to get the neivedhya ready on the intended date of pooja.

By Air:
Puducherry airport and Chennai airport are 50 km and 160 km from Thiruthuraiyur respectively.
By Rail:
Thiruthuraiyur railway station is the nearest to the temple at 2 km distance. Villupuram Junction is the major railway station near the temple at a distance of 20 km.
By Road:
Buses are available to Thiruthalur from Panruti which is 24 km from Cuddalore.
