Nithyakalyana Perumal temple, Thiruvidandhai

Nithyakalyana Perumal temple is an ancient hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is located in Thiruvidandhai, a village in Chennai, Kanchipuram district along the East Coast Road. This temple is one of the 108 Divyadesams where the marriage festival is celebrated for all the 365 days of a year. The presiding deity is Nithya Kalyana Perumal in the form of Varaha with his consort Komalavalli seated on his left thigh. By Performing parihara in this temple, the divine couple bestows the devotees with marriage boon for those having obstacles or delay in marriage. This is also a best place to reduce or nullify the adverse effects of the serpent planets Raghu and Kedhu.

Pooja Items required for the Parihara:

Ghee, Turmeric, Kumkum, Betal leaves, Arecanut, Banana, coconut, two Garlands.

Worshipping Procedure:

• Devotees who want to perform the parihara for delayed marriage may purchase the pooja items and pooja ticket within the temple premises.
• On entering the sanctum sanctorum, the priest performs the archana to the divine couple, Nithya Kalyana Perumal and Komalavalli, with the pooja items offered by the devotees. The garland offered by the devotees for the pooja is worn on the Lord.
• The garland is then returned to the respective devotees after archana. The devotees have to wear the garland and circumambulate the temple for 9 times.
• The garland is then taken home and kept safely until marriage.
• On successful completion of his/her marriage, the devotee has to return to the temple with his/her spouse. Garland and pooja items are to be purchased and pooja has to be performed again by the couple, thus completing the parihara. The old garland can be left at the divine tree (Sthala Vriksham) within the temple.
